Welcome to my Web site!

I'm Boone Baxter and I'll try and do this in the lest possible narcissistic way :)

I graduated from the University of Florida this last May. I spent 6 wonderful years in Gainesville receiving a minor in Physics (forgot everything cool that I learned, except for what orthonormal means), a B.S. in Materials Science and Engineering, a M.S. in Materials Science and Engineering, and a M.S. in Management. I played a lot of sports, went to Campus Crusade for Christ and local churches, and studied a lot.

I spent a year in Boston before Gainesville trying college up there, and before that I grew up in Jacksonville Beach, Florida. I have three sisters, two of which are happily (?) producing babies at an alarming rate (see photos in the photo gallery). My youngest sister Alaina is about to start Sante Fe college in the Fall. I owe my extraordinary amount of patience and high tolerance for aggravation to these wonderful women :)

I grew up playing baseball, tennis, football, basketball, and biking around the beach with close friends. I became a Christian my sophomore year in high school, and got involved in Sunrise Community Church. This page isn't big enough to describe the change in my life that those things brought, but suffice it to say that they both had a huge impact on the who I am today.

Now I am currently waiting to start my career as a wireline engineer with Schlumberger, which along with Halliburton is the largest oilfield services company in the world. I'll be working with a small group of technicians traveling from our "home base" to one of hundreds of nearby oil rigs. We'll put expensive tools down the oil well, and those tools will send back data that I'll interpret for the person in charge of drilling the rig. The closest "real-life" example of a similar job would be Bruce Willis in the movie Armageddon, though he'd actually be the person hiring me.

My 6 month training period starts in August and I'll be staying at Houston, Tulsa, my home base, and possibly either England or Egypt. After that, I'll be at my home base for 2.5 years. Now for the exciting part: My home base is Williston, North Dakota, where the average temperature for the year is 41 F! Eventually I'll put up a blog up about my weekly experiences up there. But in the meantime I have rented and watched Fargo for preparation.
